about

In this guided meditation, students reflect on their life and goals so that they are inspired and focused as they pursue their education and dreams. Relaxed by soothing musical meditations, students consider a series of questions, revealing ways to transform their current situation into a journey of their true purpose and true self. Each student will return from the meditation with a gift: the realization of their truest self, their Best Self, whose presence will continue to guide them as they pursue their education and true purpose. After completing the meditation, students are encouraged to listen to the musical meditations, included as tracks 2-6, as they write down their answers to the questions posed during the meditation.*

A valuable educational tool for teachers to share in the classroom, or for students to enjoy on their own, “Journey to True Purpose: A Guided Meditation for Students” benefits students of all ages and success levels. Awakened from within to their true essence and potential, the student becomes their own best teacher.

lyrics

1. Relax / Breathing exercise

Close your eyes, get comfortable in your chair and relax. Take a deep breath and release, signing with the exhale. Now take another deep breath and release. Take one more deep breath and release.

Now you are ready to go on a journey to your Best Self where you will learn to focus and find your True Purpose in life.

2. Get Centered (1:20)

Imagine that you are seated on a comfortable bench by a lake. It’s a beautiful day and there is nobody around you… no distractions, no cellphones, no drama, no sounds…just you and a beautiful tranquil lake. You feel peaceful and serene.

Now look into the lake and relax. Forget all your concerns for a moment – any issues at home, with friends, at school, all issues are gone. All drama is simply gone. It is just you and the soothing, comforting lake.

Now go inside your heart and look within. What do you see? How do you feel right now? Where are your thoughts? If any distracting thoughts come in, simply let them go. If you hear any sounds in the room, return back to the lake where you are fully present.

3. Reflect (3:17)

Now look deeper inside and consider the following:
What would you like to do with your life? What is your career path? Where would you like your education to take you? What are your aspirations and goals? What is your true purpose?

Now look at yourself now. Are your current behaviors and attitudes aligned with your goals and aspirations? How are you utilizing your time on a moment to moment basis? How do you spend your time in school, after school, and at home? Are you truly where you want to be? Are you the Best You that you can be? Are you the Best You that you can be?

Education is a gift that has been handed to you. Are you fully appreciating this gift? Are you utilizing this gift to enhance your life and your future, to help you realize your full potential? (If so, how?)

Your teachers are here to impart wisdom to you to help you on your path so that you may reach your fullest potential. The words they say lay the foundation for the bigger picture of your life and your future. You might not always understand in the moment why they say what they say, but trust that there is a deeper purpose to the teachings they impart.

Are you fully listening to the teachings and wisdom being presented to you? Are you present in every moment? Are you focused? How are you utilizing these teachings to enhance your learning experience and to improve yourself?

How can you improve yourself? How can you improve your study habits? What distractions can you eliminate from your life? What habits can you add to your daily routine so that you are fully utilizing the gift of education?

4. Create your Action Plan (8:20)

Now it’s time to come up with an action plan for your life and your future. What three action steps can you take to better your pursuit of your education, so that you can become the Best You? Come up with three changes you can make in your life.

Now imagine yourself focused and on a continual path of growth. Imagine yourself now as the Best You that you can be.

5. Find your Inner Wisdom - Your Best You! (10:00)

Now as you are sitting on the bench, a teacher approaches you. This teacher believes in you and wants to help you on your path. This teacher knows your true purpose and knows your Best You. This teacher is your inner voice of wisdom. This teacher is your Best You.

The teacher now gives you a gift of knowledge. Take the gift and hold it in your hands. Reflect on the gift and its meaning.

Now place the gift in your heart. The gift of knowledge is now in your heart, guiding you everywhere you go. Every time a teacher speaks to you, you will be reminded of this gift. You will now listen closely to their words and trust that every word is a gift, an opportunity to grow into the Best You, so that you can realize your full potential and realize your dreams.

6. Return and focus (12:00)

And now it is time to return to the room and as you return, feel your inner wisdom and breathe deeply. When you return back to the room, you will be fully present, calm, focused and alert. You will be the Best You. You will be ready to live the life you are meant to live.

Your Best You is now in your heart and will shine through in all your actions.

And now that you are back in the room, think about the gift that was handed to you and as you do this, get out your pen and paper and write down the answers to each question. And remember – you are the Best You.
